There will be some light fare, and coffee, tea and non-alcoholic punch. A chance to engage with colleagues and make new friends. Feel free to bring along another archivist who is not a member of the AMA. Have a midwinter break, in an historical setting, The
Ralph Connor House/University Women’s’ Club. For this event we would invite members to submit a digital image of a winter scene, can be an outdoor image or an interior scene, include the title and collection/fonds it is from, is it from a mixed media fonds or photographs only fonds. We are hoping for about 10 submissions. We would ask you to speak about the image for maybe five minutes, as to why you selected the image; is it from a letter. Or does it remind you of your childhood. Or I didn’t know they did that in the past or why don’t we do that any more? Does the photograph illustrate an aspect of your institution’s history or activities in the winter. We think it might be interesting to see how we have engaged with winter in the past.
Images should be submitted to Brett Lougheed at b.lougheed@uwinnipeg.ca. Scanned images should be a minimum 300 DPI and saved to a JPEG format. We will have the images on continuous loop on a monitor until we gather round to hear about each image. We think it will be interesting to see and hear what our colleagues have in their holdings and hopefully be entertained and educated by the past. Questions should be addressed to Brian Hubner at brian_hubner@umanitoba.ca or Chris Kotecki at martinc.kotecki@gmail.ca
