This presentation will go over the work of the UBC Email Archiving Working Group over the past year. First, we will discuss what we learned from conducting research through an environmental scan and a literature review, followed by an outline of our email archiving goals. This will include a discussion of our proposed workflows, email management tools, and policy development. Throughout we will discuss challenges that we have faced, and will end the session with an open Q&A.
With Speakers Andy Resto and Barbara Towell:
Andy Resto is currently completing his final term of a dual master’s degree in Archival Studies and Library and Information Science. For the past two years he has worked as a student assistant at the UBC Records Management Office. Along with digital records management, his interests and experience lie in archives of non-profit arts organizations, audiovisual archives, and religious archives.
Barbara Towell holds a Masters of Archival Studies from UBC. Previously she has worked in transportation infrastructure projects, and with international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland and Rome, Italy. She is currently the e-Records Manager at the University of British Columbia interested in automated disposition, digital transfer and preservation of the institutional records of the university.
